Greetings all,
I’m announcing new piece of Micro Fiction.
This is another 99-word very short fiction that readers can start and finish in less about 30 seconds.
This story attempts to capture the heart break some couples reach only after struggling to avoid it.

Nice story, Gary. Perhaps this couple should read Tennyson’s Ulysses:
Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and tho’ We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Excellent Don.
I would never have found this.
Perhaps a footnote is called for.

Very realistic take. A sad relief.

Hi Sadje,
Yea – sad indeed. I was reminded of this just a few days ago when a family announced yet another surprise separation. Each one leaves a bitter taste of regret.
Thanks for giving my story a read.

You’re welcome Gary. I feel that separation is a better option than living with pain and regret

Agreed – but sometimes one of both parties just refuse to grow up or act responsibly or treat each other well. Those situations that could be solved with sand paper instead get a backhoe with lots of needless pain and loss.
We really are complex personalities . . .

Yes, the will to compromise has sort of died and abandoning the whole thing is how people now think.

Sadly – but well said.
