New 99-Word Fiction :: Finding A New Balance

Greetings all,

Our host for the Carrot Ranch  99-Word Story project is back and is kicking off a new year with the challenge of creating a 99 word story around the word, ‘Sabbatical”.  My new sstory is about a man who survived a big change with his time away from work. This is not the change anyone would want but some have had to put up with.

99 words will take you 30-40 seconds to read. How long it takes you to think it through may prove to be a whole different challenge.

      1. …and yet, despite being so busy you honor me by saving my work for later reading. Sadje, you are a precious reader and I’m so fortunate to have you in my mix. The New Year events kept us busy also but we also found time to be with family just to enjoy each other because this year all our kids live out of town, anywhere from 9 hours drive to 3 time zones away. 2022 for us was the year we became empty nesters and we’re not quite used to it yet so having our gang + 1 DIL + GF was a real treat. Our daughter remains fully single because she is focusing on her med school studies. 2022 was also the year that she finally was accepted to med school and thus the big final step to her life’s dream of becoming a doctor has begun in earnest, making 2022 a bittersweet year indeed.
Thank you for all the encouragement you gave me by reading and commenting on my work. 2022 was a great year for my story writing.

      2. How lovely for you all to get together. My time is taken up because of many family commitments. I hope you be done by this weekend, but you never know. It’s always a pleasure to read your stories. Most enjoyable
