Shallow Nesting

These are the beginning of our post children years. They’ve turned into adults, adults we’re proud of but much less dependent on Mom and Dad. Our employment careers are winding down and more time is going to staying healthy, reflecting on the blessings God sent our way and trying to get our brains around what full retirement will look like.

Our bodies are no longer 30 years old so adventures are much more tame now. But our minds — except for forgetting why we fought our way out of aging chairs to walk out to the kitchen our minds remain highly dependent on input either from new reading or recycling books or stories or memories of how we got to where we are in the larger context.

I think even this mostly empty nest merits some exploration.
