This is a Weekly Coffee Share Essay.
I’m part of a small group of bloggers who stay in touch and chat about blogging, writing, or just about anything else that might be of interest. Here’s mine for the week ending Feb. 1, 2020.

Greetings all.

Today, I have almost no time for the stuff I want to do, I’d love to kick back with you, a hot drink, a comfortable fire before us and plenty of time to ease into the weekend with your company.

Instead, I’m going to spend as much time as I can visiting your venues, rather than hold you here.  I’ll provide a quick update though so you know something of what I’m up to.

  1. DaVinchi 1 jpgMy surgeon this week, pronounced me fully fit to return to work post surgery.  No surprises either during or after his (and his robot’s) clever work. Yea!
  2. Yesterday, Friday, was my first full day back at work and, surprise, I found out I had to spend it traveling to, and spending about 3 hours on site with a customer, helping them solve a big problem.  While I’m not expected to be part of the solution, I do play a role in getting a solution for them and helping to knock down any road blocks.
  3. Today, Saturday, which is supposed to be my writing day, is instead going to be trying to finish the work I should have done yesterday – ugh.
  4. My experimental writing project is moving forward.  I have a partner who stepped up to join me in creating a story for a new mystery from my fictional, Tamara’s Teancoff Cafe.  This will be a multi-chapter story that actually takes place at the cafe.  My partner has the framework for chapter 2 to populate and hopefully we’ll will have something to polish together and share very soon.  So far, I really like both the story and working with this author.  I’m having fun, will certainly learn from this author and believe will have a second chapter to share very soon. Did you miss chapter 1?  Ah – I can fix that.  Chapter 1 is at this link.

coffee w booksWriting is normally such a solitary effort, but so far, I’m enjoying having a partner who is going to add things I did not see coming – adding to the enjoyment of creating the overall narrative.

So far, the idea of combining a few real people, who talk and interact with the story inside a larger story, is proving to be fun, but yes, it’s weird not having full control.  It causes a strange creative itch that I refuse to allow to derail me.  Wish us luck.

Have you ever tried something like this yourself?  Please advise if you can.  I’d really like this to produce fun results for both authors and readers.

Okay, that’s it for me for now.  I’ll see you soon over at your coffee share.

  1. Glad you are able to return to work, even if it was 3 hours with a customer. I’ll try to visit Tamera’s Cafe later – I’m about to head off to a real cafe right now! Hilltop Cafe. Anyway, I hope you catch up on your chores and enjoy your weekend 🙂

      1. Hi Kathleen,
You caught me working on something else on my site and this surprised me. But, you were correct – that link was mangled.

Thanks for calling it out for me. It’s fixed now and I hope you have time to circle back to give it another chance.

Chapter 1 was fun, but wait until you see chapter 2 . . . It’s so cool!

I’m really excited about what’s coming.

  2. Hi
Gary super glad that the robot did such a superb job oh no I wanted to google it but I forgot its name… where is my head hahahaif I had the distnict pleasure of naming it would have probably called it, Edward Surgeon hands, or Deadshot for its deadly accuracy but I think it would unsettle potential patients…
Dr Deadshot will see you now……..

  3. Glad all went well with the doc! So far all my writing has been solitary endeavors, so I’ve got no advice for you there. It would be an interesting experience I’m sure, but one that I’d probably have a hard time committing to. Good luck with chapter 2.

  4. By the way, did you have to do physical therapy/rehab and do you have exercises they gave you to do at home? I am finding what I miss now is an accountability buddy. I kept showing up and was motivated by my physical therapy, plus it got me out of work right on time. I don’t know, what are your thoughts?

    1. I think we now have two reasons to get on the phone and chat.
Yes I do exercises at home now. And yes I could probably use an accountability buddy. We could use it as a footnote to talking about writing.
I sent you my cell phone number. Please drop me a text message to begin the conversation.

      1. Hi Pam.
I did get it (thx) but was on site with a customer all day or driving to or from. Today is a catch up day for me and I look forward to getting you a thoughtful rsp.
