Chaos in the Home Office :: CR99 220406

Inspired by Charli Mill’s Carrot Ranch, #99WordStories
In 99 words (no more, no less),
write a story about “a baby duck ate my lunch”.

“Hi Michael, thanks for the zoom conference. I’m just starting lunch.”

“No worries. We’re anxious to get you back in the office. How’s the forecast?”

“All ready to scan.”

“Wonderful. Can… “

“Daddy, mommy needs you.”

“Sorry. Give me a sec.”

“Hello Lilly. Who’s that?”

“He’s, Bertie, my duckling. Nooo — Morris! Get out — bad doggy.”

“Lilly, don’t leave Bertie… Lilly?

“Martin! Can you hear me? Bertie’s destroying your desktop.”

 – – = = * = = – –

“Okay; I’m… W-what’s this…?  Bertie! Out with you!

“Michael, let me salvage what’s left and I’ll be there in an hour.”

    1. Ha Stine – No, I’m one of those who has worked from home for a long time, since 2006. However, many friends have gone through things like this and fortunately, all have maintained most of their sense of humor about it all. Thanks for giving it a read.

    1. Thanks George. Nothing like a bit of family W@H chaos to start the day. I hope to retire sometime soon but am addicted to this paycheck and benefits package, so I’ll hang in there a tad longer. I’ve reached an age that I’m more than qualified but the morass of dealing with Social Security alone – ugh. I don’t want to even think about it.
